Educators contribute to the profession
Teaching, and learning, do not happen in isolation. I believe in the collaborative, generous nature of teaching. I think it is vital for educators to embody Standard 8 whenever they have the opportunity.
I have been fortunate enough to have a number of educators adhere to this standard, volunteering their time to present to myself and my colleagues for many of our classes. I have also been fortunate enough to have two incredibly generous educators take me under their wings as my coaching teachers in both EDUC 391 and EDUC 490. I hope one day to contribute back, and take on practicum students as well.
While I am not a certified teacher yet, when the opportunities present themselves, I have made attempts to contribute to the profession.
